“We have art so that we shall not die of reality.” — Nietzsche
I am a mixed-media artist based in Dublin. My practice moves between abstraction, semi-abstraction, and the human figure, often exploring movement, presence, and emotional states rather than fixed narratives. I allow the work to remain open — both in subject and interpretation — as I believe art should leave space for discovery, uncertainty, and transformation.
My background spans social psychology, health, and visual art. Before committing fully to painting, I explored poetry, performance, and textile work, experiences that continue to shape my visual language. These disciplines inform how I approach the body, gesture, and the psychological undercurrents that surface through material and form.
Process is central to my work. I often begin with darkness — layering paint, plaster, and acrylic — working instinctively with my hands and tools. Surfaces are built, disrupted, washed, and reworked. Canvases may be rinsed, distressed, or partially erased, allowing chance and decay to participate in the final image. The resulting works carry traces of time, movement, and abandonment — intentionally unresolved.
Themes in my practice shift and evolve. At times the work leans toward landscapes and abstract environments; at others, toward the human figure in motion — dancers, gestures, fragmented bodies. I resist settling into a single subject or style, preferring to follow curiosity and emotional resonance as they emerge.
I am interested in dialogue — between viewer and work, between memory and sensation. I hope my paintings invite viewers to recognise something of themselves within the surface, not through explanation but through feeling.
My work has been exhibited in Ireland and internationally, including shows in Dublin and Rome, and has been featured in several art journals and publications. Original artworks are available for private and gallery acquisition.
